Each morning, hunters arise before dawn and start the day with a continental breakfast and coffee. Your guide will then take you to your pre-scouted field. There, decoys will be readied just before the arrival of the first flight of waterfowl. At Alberta's Fall Flight, your hunting experience will be fully guided. After the morning shoot you and your guide will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoons are open for relaxing and preparing for the evening duck shoot. Your evening shoot usually begins 1 to 1 ½ hours before sunset, as the majority of evening flights occur when the birds leave their afternoon roost and return to the field to feed. After the evening shoot we will go out for dinner and beverages and revel in our day's adventure.

Hunters are required to take home their birds home with them. Canadian and United States regulations require that one fully feathered wing be attached to all migratory birds (geese and ducks) while transporting between the two countries. U.S. Customs may ask to see your Canadian Hunting License. Coolers are required for the transportation of birds. Commercial airlines will not allow Styrofoam ice chests. Limits: Canada Geese - 8/Day, Snow Geese - 10/day, Ducks - 8/day, Possession: Canada Geese - 16, Snow Geese - 20, Ducks - 16. Departure: On your last shooting day, all extra hunting charges such as shells, bird processing and licensing fees are to be paid to your guide.

After booking with Alberta's Fall Flight, you will be asked to provide your information so that we may obtain all of the following required licenses and permits prior to your arrival (Under the "Resources" section of this website, see WIN application form). We will apply on your behalf to get the following licenses:

  • Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit (Alberta)
  • Game bird License (Alberta)
  • Wildlife Certificate (including a Resource Development Stamp) and a Wildlife Identification Number (WIN)

With liberal bag limits of 16 ducks and 16 dark geese there will be plenty of great shoots! We use only the best equipment with Final Approach blinds, Real Geese Silhouettes, Bigfoot & Hardcore decoys. One can expect the opportunity to hunt: Canada Geese, Mallards, Pintails and American Widgeons (by order of abundance). Hunts early in the season would be the most likely time to shoot Greater White-fronted Geese. While later in the season, Snow Geese are usually more prevalent.

The season starts in early September with the migration starting by late-September and lasting until the early December.

Hunters fly into the Calgary International Airport (YYZ) and can either be picked up by an Alberta's Fall Flight staff member or can rent a car and drive to Brooks, AB (less than a 2 hour drive).

While there is no way to guarantee the weather, early in the season (September), the days are generally warm with no frost at all. For the first part of October, the days will cool down with the occasional frost. From mid-October until the end of the season, early morning frosts become more frequent and in November, cold and snow are real possibilities. As we are located in the Foothills region, “Chinook Winds”, which bring warm weather are common. The weather can be pleasant even later on in the season but you should always layer your clothing.

Gratuities range from 6% to 8% depending on your level of satisfaction. Keep in mind our staff are local Canadians that appreciate your business and are eager to assist you with your world-class hunt.
